Frozen Peas, If You Please.

When you need a quick ice pack – for a strained or pulled muscle, a burn, or even a headache – an unopened bag of frozen peas works just fine. In fact, frozen peas are a physician’s favorite: Doctors often recommend icing with a bag of peas to help reduce pain and swelling during the first 48 hours after an injury, as well as to reduce local swelling after a variety of surgeries. But, why peas? Why not broccoli? Peas are preferred because of their small size, which helps them easily mold to your body. But if you’re fresh out of the little green spheres, don’t worry – you can substitute frozen corn or blueberries, or any other equally small fruit or vegetable.
